An Australian woman who sustained an injury while having sex in a hotel during a work trip has been awarded worker's compensation. The woman -- a federal worker -- suffered injuries to her face when a light fixture fell on her while she was having sex. She filed a worker's comp claim for the incident which happened in 2007 but the insurance company appealed the claim because the injury was unrelated to the woman's job. However, a federal court sided with her, explaining that the employer was responsible for the woman for the entire duration of the trip. The judge said, "If the applicant had been injured while playing a game of cards in her motel room she would be entitled to compensation even though it could not be said that her employer induced or encouraged her to engage in such an activity." An insurance spokesman said they may try to appeal to a higher court. The spokesperson said, "The issue is a significant one. Workers need to be clear about their entitlements and employers should have an understanding of their responsibilities and how to support their staff." (USA Today)
