A seven-year-old dog in Southampton, England is miraculously OK after swallowing a foot of Christmas lights and going through an emergency surgery. The dog, Charlie, has a history of eating his owners' belongings but this marks the first time he went after the Christmas lights. Sharon Fay, his owner, didn't realize what Charlie had done until she saw some wire in his feces. She said, "Back in March he ate one of my scarves and needed an operation to remove it, but I thought it was just a one-off incident as he hadn't shown any signs that he was going to be a repeat offender. I've had dogs all my life and have never known a dog act like this before." An X-ray showed that Charlie had swallowed some Christmas lights. Vets immediately rushed the dog into surgery, where they removed the lights -- and a shoelace they found. Charlie has made a full recovery since the operation. (The Mirror)
