Burger King was the victim of hackers yesterday (February 18th) who changed their Twitter account to look like that of rival McDonald's. Around noontime, BK's profile image was switched to show a photo of McDonald's new Fish McBites and the golden arches logo, with the caption, "Just got sold to McDonald's because the whopper flopped..." Some messages were also tweeted and retweeted, including ones that used profanity, racial slurs and drug use references, before Burger King was able to get Twitter to freeze the account about an hour later. McDonald's quickly said they weren't responsible, tweeting, "We empathize with our @BurgerKing counterparts. Rest assured, we had nothing to do with the hacking."
