Although Dave Grohl says he's been reluctant to play any music from Nirvana live in the past, performing recently at Sound City Players gigs with former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear has made it more of a possibility. In fact, Grohl revealed to NME that the three of them had discussed doing it -- and asking British alternative diva P.J. Harvey to sing. Grohl explained, "Every once in a while we talk about it. For the Sound City gig here in London (last month), we were thinking about musicians that we could invite because Stevie Nicks and John Fogertycouldn't make it. Someone came up with the idea of doing a Nirvana song with P.J. Harvey."

Grohl added, "Kurt (Cobain) loved her and we love her and we thought, 'Yeah, what would we do?' I said, 'God, what if we were to do "Milk It" from In Utero with Polly (P.J. Harvey) singing?' We all looked at each other like, 'Whoa, that would be amazing,' and then she couldn't do it."

• Grohl reiterated his reluctance to play Nirvana material, saying, "The thing is, it's sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have be right because you want to pay tribute. There's a reason Foo Fighters don't do Nirvana songs, and it's a good reason."
• The Sound City Players, a collection of musicians that Grohl interviewed for his documentary Sound City, played what might have been their last show at the South By Southwestfestival in Austin, Texas last week.
• We asked Grohl about the possibility of taking the Players on the road: "You know, so many people have said like, 'Oh, you've got to go on tour' and 'You've got to do more shows' and I swear to God, I would give my left arm to do it. Logistically, you could imagine, it's like taking Hollywood Squares on the road. It's nuts."
• Sound City: Real To Reel, the soundtrack album companion to the movie, debuted at Number Eight on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (March 20th), selling 37,000 copies in its first week of release. The set includes new songs featuring Grohl, Paul McCartney, Trent Reznor, Corey Taylor, Stevie Nicks and others.
