The latest single from Muse's 2012 album The 2nd Law is called "Animals," and the band has released a new fan-made video that was chosen through a recent online contest. According to Diffuser, the members of the British trio looked at a "huge number of brilliant entries" before narrowing the list down to five finalists, with the winner selected via online voting.

A post at Muse's website stated, "Your votes have been cast, the band have deliberated and we all seem to be in agreement that the excellent version of 'Animals' by Ines Freitas and Miguel Mendes from Portugal is the winner of our 'Animals' video competition." Freitas and Mendes produce videos under the name Oneness Team.

  • "Animals" is the third single issued from The 2nd Law, after "Panic Station" and the chart-topping "Madness."
  • Bassist Chris Wolstenholme told us that recording "Animals" was trickier than the band thought it would be: "We'd sort of done these initial rough demos so we always had a reference to go back to. And when we recorded 'Animals,' we kept listening back to the demo and we were like, 'Well, the demo really sounds like we're just in a room jamming. We're not worrying too much about how tight it is. It's got that really nice three-piece feel about it.' And I think we ended up re-recording that song a few times and a couple of times even considered using the demo because it just had that feel."
  • Muse will headline a series of free concerts scheduled for April 5th, 6th and 7th in Atlanta in conjunction with the NCAA's Final Four. Muse will perform on the 6th along with Dave Matthews Band, Stingand others.
  • Following that, Muse will kick off a new round of North American shows on April 9th in Toronto.
